Back For The Second Time in One Year: Foreclosure Help Resource Fair

The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS(R) has partnered with the City of San Jose in their efforts to stem the tide of foreclosures by educating at-risk homeowners. The goal is to provide assistance and counseling to help keep families from losing their homes.

With that, the “Foreclosure Help – Preserving Our Community” group will be holding another one-day foreclosure help resource fair on October 21st from 1-7pm. There is no cost to attend the fair and there will be no fees charged for the assistance provided.

The fair will be held at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, 1700 Alum Rock Ave. San Jose, on Wednesday, October 21st from 1-7pm.

It will feature HUD certified counselors and legal aid to answer questions and provide assistance. If you know of someone who could use this help, refer them to this event.

As you may remember, the Foreclosure Help group has previously held these foreclosure resource fairs (here, and here) with great success. At the previous events, homeowners were able to receiving loan modification assistance and counseling. This year, we expect the event will reach even more troubled homeowners.

As always, the main focus of this event is to help the community; therefore, business promoting will not be permitted. At the first event we had an unscrupulous loan modification company pass around flyers in the parking lot. Ever since, tighter security was added for these events. Additionally, the public is warned not to accept any type of solicitation for a loan modification that is not provided by a HUD approved counseling agency at this event.

Although this foreclosure help resource fair will be held in San Jose, borrowers from other surrounding cities of the Bay Area are more than welcome to attend.

Finally, the one-stop resource and help center for on-going support of the community is available at the Work2Future facility located at 1290 Parkmoor Ave in San Jose.
