Loan Modification, Foreclosure Prevention and HUD Counseling Event in San Jose

I have been invited, along with some SCCAOR members, to help in the “Foreclosure Prevention and Rescue Fair” in San Jose on August 20, 2008.

[UPDATE]: Details for the event here

The “Foreclosure Prevention and Rescue Fair” is presented by the City of San Jose, the Department or Real Estate (DRE), local elected officials, several non-profit partners of “Don’t Borrow Trouble Silicon Valley” and The Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® (SCCAOR).

The main goals for this foreclosure help fair is to assist troubled homeowners avoid foreclosure and keep their homes.

The services that will be provided at this event are:

  • On-site loan modification review by:
    • Washington Mutual
    • GMAC
    • Countrywide
    • Wells Fargo
    • Wachovia
    • And many other lenders and banks
  • One-on-One Foreclosure Counseling
  • Legal Assistance
  • Language Translation Services
  • And much more

Qualified borrowers will be able to work directly with their lenders to modify their loans and/or receive counseling from HUD certified counselors.

Please, be prepared and bring the following documents and information if you need assistance in modifying your loan and/or need counseling:

  • Original loan documents for all current loans
  • Current mortgage statements
  • Bank statements for the last two months
  • Pay stubs for the last two months
  • Tax returns for the last two years
  • Rental contracts/roommate agreement (if applicable)

Once you have collected all these documents it is important that you fill out this Intake Form (click here) and bring it to the event. DO NOT email it to me; I am not a HUD counselor. You need to bring the above listed documents and this form completely filled out for faster service.

This community event will be held free of charge at Independence High School located at 1776 Educational Park Drive, San Jose CA 95133 (Use the parking lot entrance on Jackson Ave) from 4pm to 8pm so dont be late.

Definitely an awesome event. Good for both borrowers and lenders to present borrowers an option for a loan modification.

    Felicia,

This was definitely a great event for the community of San Jose.

You can view the new report on this event by following this link.

And as stated on the news report, the San Jose Housing Department is working on a second community event. It will take place sometime in the beginning of 2009. We are hoping that more lenders will get involved.
