Opportunity for Buyers in a Slow Real Estate Market

Today’s real estate market could be seen as really gloomy. A market with an ever increasing number of unhappy sellers, unsold homes, short sales failing to sell because of a lender’s inexperience or lack of market knowledge, foreclosed homes at auctions not receiving any bids and being turned back to the lender and into the market again as REO properties. These are today’s mainstream news! These are the news you see on a day to day basis.

Sex and blood always sells and a bloody real estate market is no exception. However, consumers should really focus on understanding what this news really means to them.

Back in the glory days of the real estate market, sellers were few and buyers were many, making it a seller’s market that may have gotten a little out of control but make no mistake, seller did take advantage of this situation.

But now it is a completely different story. Buyers are few and sellers are many, making it a buyers market where buyers should take advantage of today’s situation.

The problem is many buyers are trying to time the market and buy a home at the very bottom of this correction so that they can maximize their profit from their purchase, but trying to time the market does not work. Many buyers will lose out on great opportunities just like seller lost on great opportunities when they tried to time the market and sell their homes at the very peak of the market.
